About fednews.fyi

fednews.fyi is a daily brief for senior frontend developers. Each entry covers one story that changes how you build, style, ship, or secure a web application. The target is a minute of reading, not a summary of everything that happened.

Coverage follows the work: the browser platform, CSS, React, JavaScript, TypeScript, build tooling, and the security of the packages you install. If a story does not change a build, a bundle, a client, a stylesheet, or a dependency, it does not run.

How a brief is made

  1. Research. Find the original announcement, release, documentation, or advisory. Aggregators, personal blogs, and secondhand summaries are not sources.
  2. Reader value. Reject spec-sheet feature lists that do not say what changes for the reader, what breaks, or what to ignore.
  3. Source check. Every URL must resolve to the primary source. A brief with only secondary sources does not publish.
  4. Validation. Check versions, dates, identifiers, severity scores, and affected ranges against the source. Uncertainty goes back to research.
  5. Editing. Remove filler, tighten the opening, and confirm the brief still reads like a developer wrote it.
